Welcome to the Powered Up LLC Blog
A quick hello from Micah — and what you can expect from this space: straight-talk electrical advice for South Shore homeowners.
When you call Powered Up LLC, you get me — Micah. Same person who shows up to do the work, runs the permit, and stands behind it after. This blog is an extension of that: a place to share the kind of straight answers I'd give you on a service call, without the call.
What you'll find here
I'll keep it practical and local to the South Shore:
- Panel upgrades — when 100A isn't enough anymore, and what a 200A or 400A service actually buys you.
- EV chargers — how Level 2 installs work, load calculations, and what to check before you buy a charger.
- Older homes — knob-and-tube, aluminum wiring, Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels, and why your insurance carrier keeps asking about them.
- Safety — the warning signs that a tripping breaker or warm outlet is telling you something serious.
Why this matters
A lot of electrical advice online is written to sell you something. My goal is simpler: help you understand what's going on in your home so you can make a good call — whether that's hiring me or just knowing the right question to ask.
If something in your panel doesn't look right, don't wait. Turn it off and call a licensed electrician.
